Spawn #56 - Story - Todd McFarlane, Pencils - Greg Capullo, Inks - Todd McFarlane & Danny Miki, Letters - Tom Orzechowski, Colors - Brian Haberlin, Dan Kemp & Jason Gorder

Absolutely exquisite line & color work in this issue. The subtle shift works so well as the narrative changes slightly. The issue is narrated by a former ally of Jason Winn, who much like Al Simmons has suffered tremendously after having been exploited by the power hungry head of intelligence for years. Plus Cy-Gor's journey has finally ended and he lies in wait for Spawn, just who he is and why he has sought Spawn out will be explored soon.

Jace and Rocky from Comic Boom! break down the first two part of the War for Earth-3 event. The War for Earth-3 begins with Amanda Waller and her carefully chosen Suicide Squad invade Earth-3 with an offer for UltraMan that he can't refuse! What is up with the relationship between Superwoman Donna troy and Owlman? Why is Ultraman so upset with it? You have heard of the breaking of the Batman, right? How about the breaking of the Owlman? Who is capable of such a thing? Is Owlman an idiot? How does Johnny Quick come back from the dead? What argument does Amanda Waller make to Ultraman to get him to let her govern Earth 3? And as their collaboration begins hope does it play out in part 2 in Suicide Squad #13?

In the end he has something taken from him by order of Malebolgia and what the long term effects may be remains to be seen.

A lot of the plot threads that have been building over the last few years are resolved or greatly impacted by the events of this anniversary issue.

The excellent series Deep Beyond comes to a close in a very satisfying way, while the Reckoning War ramps up in Fantastic Four & Queen Goblin & Doctor Octopus continues their villainous ways in Amazing Spider-Man & Superior Four respectively.

Jace and Rocky take a close look at the DC Comics titles hitting comic shops for the week of February 15, 2022. The Flash and Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow are especially great this week. We also get the conclusion of the Aquaman The Becoming series, but it is clearly not the end of the story and neither is the final issue of Nubia and the Amazons. Both of these stories will be continued in upcoming DC events. Detective Comics also remains a very compelling read as does Nightwing.

Jace takes a break from the regular series to check out a could of issues of Curse Of The Spawn that fit right in between #20 & #21 of the regular series. First we get the tragic origin of Overt-Kill and his family in #23. Then in #24, we meet an intriguing & extremely dangerous individual that is dispatched to take out the newly christened Overt-War, but he turns defies orders & expectations when he redirects Overt-War to take out those who he felt had been unjustly holding him. We bet we haven't seen the last of the man code-named, Pandemic.

When they part it isn't exactly as friends or even allies, but they did manage to do a lot of good by working together.
