Jace and Rocky tackle a huge week of DC books with 17+ titles. Flashpoint Beyond #6 gets Rocky's nod for favorite title this week as it wraps up the series in a very satisfying way, but teases that there is possibly more to come, including new characters from the Golden Age. Jace singles out Nightwing 97, for it's gorgeous art, wonderfully humorous moments and a big shock ending.

Jace chats with writer Mairghread Scott about her latest project, Sea Serpent's Heir. This graphic novel is the latest in the Skybound Comet line of YA content, but make no mistake it is a rousing adventure tale suitable for all ages. Exploring themes of identity and family, it may also serve as a cautionary tale reinforcing the old adage; be careful what you wish for. Filled with gorgeous art and wonderfully complex and interesting characters, it is an absolute must-read.

Faceless and the Family - Issue #1

by Matt Lesniewski

[Los Angeles, CA] - The Eisner-nominated creator Matt Lesniewski launches his creator-owned graphic novel on Zoop!

Now live on Zoop is a new campaign to fund the latest outing from rising star and Eisner-nominated Matt Lesniewski, called Faceless And The Family. The story can best be described as a sci-fi / post apocalyptic journey where a strange and lovable group of misfits form a family. Think of it like an even weirder, yet heartfelt spin on The Wizard of Oz, but completely its own.

The book has been in production for a while and had numerous homes before landing at Zoop to be crowdfunded. Lesniewski is a one-man creative team, writing, drawing, and lettering this personal love letter to comics. The campaign runs for 30 days, and backers will receive a 120-page completed story in softcover format. Other rewards include signatures, remarques, sketches, commissions, and even original pages from the book!

Mind MGMT creator and collaborator Matt Kindt shares “Matt L's work is the most original stuff I’ve seen in comics in years - a singular voice and talent right out of the gate - a once-in-a-generation talent - waiting for the rest of the industry to catch up with him. Unbelievable work.”

Matt Lesniewski is an Eisner Award-nominated comics artist, who has worked on multiple series for Dark Horse Comics, such as Mind MGMTStatic, and Crimson Flower. He has also self-published The Freak, and is a favorite amongst original art collectors for his unique and easily identifiable art style.

Zoop CEO, Jordan Plosky shares: “I’m a huge fan of Matt’s. It’s been great to see his star rise through the comic projects he’s been a part of, and his buzz online as a rising superstar in the world of comics. We’re incredibly excited to play a part in the next step of Matt’s journey to becoming an even bigger name in this industry.”

Zoop is the new home for creator-owned crowdfunding. For publishers and creators, Zoop is an all-in-one pre-order, production, fulfillment, and marketing solution that connects them directly to their fans.
